All of the images present on this page are examples of work done on site to be kept in my image library. I do not use references in my studio work other than these studies. In my studio work the human images and landscape components taken form the image library are not intended to be descriptive of specific individuals or places. Rather they are expressions of ideas in pictorial form, substantive and particularized.
Most of those images are done using watercolors. However, even when I am in the physical environment in which I am doing those studies I am always selectively determining what will be in the study and that which will not be part of the study. In that way I am considering the possibilities of the image(s) to be used, not as descriptive realism, but references at a later date. I remain the distanced observer rather than an immersed participant.
